Helen Shealy Griffin, 84, passed away in Ocala, FL on June 8, 2012. She was born in Ocala, FL on December 17, 1927. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry G. Shealy and Ruth Stephens Shealy and her daughter, Carolyn Settle. Helen was an elementary school teacher in Marion County Public Schools for 15 years. After retirement, she was a volunteer at elementary schools for over 20 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church., the Friendly Fellowhip Sunday School Class, Joy Circle, Supper Club, and Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority. Helen is survived by her husband of 64 years, W.W. "Bill" Griffin, Jr., daughter Martha (Dave) Belcher, Dunnellon, son Dane Griffin, Ocala, grandson John Griffin, Gainesville and sister Winifred Davis, Sparr. There will be a gathering of family and friends at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 910 East Silver Springs Blvd, Ocala on Monday, June 11th from 5 - 7 PM. Funeral services will held at Hiers-Baxley on Tuesday, June 12th at 3 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Florida United Methodist Children's Home, 51 Children's Way, Enterprise, FL 32725.
