Medusa: A Celebration of Strength is a three night extravaganza celebrating the work of women artists, musicians and performers. This crookedletter production is a benefit for three non-profit organizations--Acorn Clinic, Civic Media Center and Planned Parenthood of North Central Florida--and two community magazines--The Gainesville Iguana and The Satellite.

Medusa is a music show. Rock out as local women musicians and women-lead bands play on Thursday, June 5th at Common Grounds, 919 W. University Ave. Doors will open around 9:30 p.m. and show will start at normal Gainesville band time, which means somewhere after 10:00 p.m. The cover is $5-10 sliding scale. Pay at the door.

Medusa is an art show. Revel in paintings, ceramics, sundry fine art, video pieces and quite possibly belly dancing on Friday, June 6th at 920 NW 2nd Ave. Doors open at 8:00 p.m. The cover is $3-10 sliding scale, no one turned away due to lack of funds. Pay at door.

Medusa is a performance cabaret. Delight as local performers act, sing, scream and dream on Monday, June 9th on the Hippodrome's main stage, 25 SE 2nd Pl. Doors open at 7:00 p.m. Show starts at 8:00 p.m. sharp Tickets are $7-30 sliding scale, no one turned away due to lack of funds. To reserve tickets or for more information, please call 256-0214. This is not a Hippodrome production, please do not call their box office.

Medusa is the fourteenth event produced by crookedletter. crookedletter puts on innovative, engaging and affordable events that feature local artists creating original work. Almost all crookedletter producations have been benefits for the Civic Media Center. Some past crookedletter productions include: Spoken Sex Words, Gender is a Drag, Lick: love lost, sex sought, Sheila Bishop's Holiday Special and most recently Crooked Tongue.
