Rosewood exhibit
October 1999

The Rosewood Traveling Exhibit will be in Gainesville the whole month of October at the Matheson Center Museum. Commemorating the 1923 burning of an African-American community located just west of Alachua Country, the twelve 36X80 inch panels present a history and profile of the life in Rosewood, the unfolding of the massacre, and the process which led to the uncovering the history and gaining some compensation for the victims. The museum is open Tuesday-Friday, 9:30 am to 1:30 p.m. and on Sunday from 1-5 p.m. Web users can view material at www.displayforschools.com/rosewood.html
