American Camellia Society Show Dates 2006-2007
|
The Gainesville Camellia Society is a local society in Gainesville, Florida, whose members meet in the fall, winter and spring months and who present an annual Camellia show during that period, typically the first weekend in January. The monthly meetings are devoted to the various cultural aspects of the Camellia, including grafting, air layering, pruning, and applying giberellic acid for earlier and larger blooms. We enjoy all camellias, including japonicas, sasanquas, reticulatas, and hybrids. Annual dues are: Single, $15, and Joint Membership, $20. Dues are due July 1 each year.
We usually meet at the Kanapaha Garden 1 mi West of I-75 and SR 24. Our feature event is an interesting speaker. Refreshments will be served and camellia trees will be auctioned.
Our Camellia Show is the first weekend of each new year at The Oaks Mall. January 2006, and will highlight all the camellias in bloom.
Annual ACS dues are: Single $25.00, and Joint Membership $27.50. ACS Membership entitles you to four quarterly issues of the Camellia Journal, published in February, May, August and November. It contains 32 to 40 pages of interesting articles and pictures, and usually color reproductions of new Camellia varieties. Each December, members receive the handsome paperback American Camellia Yearbook of some 225 pages. Copies of these publications are on display at each annual Camellia show. Their address is The American Camellia Society One Massee Lane, Fort Valley, GA 31030
