* Norma Green (Chair) - Ms. Green earned her BA and MS degrees in education from Brooklyn College in New York. She has worked as a teacher, special education counselor, an assistant principal, and principal in New York City. In Gainesville, Ms. Green has served as Guardian Ad Litem Coordinator and has volunteered with the Juvenile Justice Council, the Matheson Historical Society, the Alachua Halfway House and is an active member in Altrusa. She now works as the program coordinator for conflict resolution workshops at the Levin College of Law at the University of Florida.

Congratulations Norma for receiving the Outstanding Service to Homeless Floridians award at the 5th Annual Statewide Conference on Homelessness this October. You have been recognized by the Florida Coalition on Homelessness for helping reach thier vision to "unify people and mobilize resources to prevent homelessness and alleviate the conditions of persons without shelter". With your enthusiasm The Preserve Inc. will become a strong partner in reducing homelessness among Americas most vital resource, youth. Again, congratulations.

 

* Maxine Early (Secretary) - Mrs Early is a 14 year resident of Gainesville, FL. She attended Santa Fe Community College taking business classes leading her to open her own business maintaining a holistic therapy program. Mrs. Early currently holds a nationally recognized Massage Therapy License. As current fundraising chair and secretary, Mrs. Early was one of the original founders of the program. Her desire to get involved came from her employment as Guardian Ad Litem with Circuit 8 of the Alachua County Courts. Mrs. Early recently became a Board member after spending years helping from the sidelines. Mrs. Early has also worked with the Brothers and Sisters Against Cancer, served on the Habitat for Humanity selection committee, and was a member of the Trenton Division of Blind Services Community Development Board for the blind. 
*Dr. Anthony Greene (Vice Chair) - Dr. Greene is a licensed Clinical Psychologist and Coordinator of the Character Building Seminars. Mr. Greene offers one day workshops for teens, which have reached hundreds of teens with a message of encouragement and empowerment. He is currently Director of the Employee Assistance Program of the University of Florida and a Regional Faculty for the Fielding Graduate Institute. Mr. Greene has numerous publications on multicultural competence, anger expression, and health psychology. During his free time, Mr. Greene paints African American art as a reflection of cultural change and challenges. His art has been displayed in local publications and in various art festivals.
*Gail Monahan (Treasurer) - Ms. Monahan is currently the Executive Director of the Alachua County Housing Authority. After earning her degree from the University of Rhode Island, Monahan moved to Alachua County as a Volunteers in Service to America (VISTA) volunteer. Ms. Monahan began working for the Alachua County Housing Authority in 1973 and was promoted to Executive Director in the same year. She currently serves as a volunteer in a number of local organizations and has been recognized several times for her extraordinary service.
*Capt. Tony Jones - Mr. Jones has been employed by the Gainesville Police Department since 1975. He has worked as a Crime Prevention Supervisor, Road Supervisor in the Operations Bureau, supervised the first Community Oriented Police Teams (COPS), and was the commander of both the COPS unit and the Crime Prevention Unit. In 1992 he represented the Neighborhood Services Bureau and was responsible for the exanded COPS team, Crime Prevention Unit, and School Resource Officers Program. In 1997, Capt. Jones was appointed Interim Chief of the Gainesville, Police Department where he maintained the position until a pernament Chief was elected. He presently serves as Commander of the Neighborhood Services Bureau, which encompasses Crime Prevention, Youth Services, Special Operations, COPS Teams and Drug Enforcement Agency.
*McArthur Shelton - Mr. Shelton is a graduate of the University of Florida Collge of Business holding an MBA and BSBA in Real Estate. As owner of M. Shelton Construction company, Mr. Shelton is a certified contractor and real estate salesman. He is a standing member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternaty, Inc. and United Gainesville Community Develpment Corporation, Inc. where he is also the past Chairman of the Board and President. Along with his extensve knowledge in real estate and construction, Mr. Shelton is an active community member. He has served on several Boards including the City of Gainesville Construction Trade Licensing Advisory Board and Planning Board. Mr. Shelton provides guidance and leadership in housing homeless youth while maintaining positive community economic development. 
*Elizabeth McCulloch - Mrs. McCulloch is a graduate of Duke Law School. She is a former legal services attorney and director of social policy at the Levin Collge of Law Center for Governmental Responsibility. She currently focuses her attention on family and poverty issues. Mrs. McCulloch participates on many civic Boards and committees including the Alachua County Coalition for the Homeless and Hungry. Mrs. McCulloch assists The Preserve, Inc. by aiding in legal decisions, budgeting, outreach, and fundraising. Although she has expressed a desire to retire from her many civic activities, she finds her desires to see change for at risk youth more enjoyable than a slower lifestyle. 
*Allison Thompson - Mrs. Thompson is the Executive Director of Three Rivers Legal Services of Gainesville Florida. Her skills include management and supervision of legal work, leadership and direction of non-profit organizations, training, grant writing, community organizing, and legal advocacy. She has dedicated her time to The Preserve, Inc. acknowledgeing the need for services for at risk youth, especially those involved in the Juvenile Justice system or trgeted as potential juvenile justice clients given behaviors and family situations.
*Gussie Campbell - Mrs. Campbell is a 30 yuear veteran guidance counselor having served both the Alachua County and Putnam County Schools in north central Florida. Her area of concern was high schools dealing with populations mirroring that of The Preserve, Inc. Her desire to reach this market led her to become a Board member for the last three years. Along with her services to the program, Mrs. Campbell is also the President of the Visionaries and Fundraising Chair for the Gainesville Chapter of The Links, Inc., both active women groups. Mrs. Campbell caries a Masters of Education in Guidance and counseling from Indiana University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Education from Florida A&M University.
*Tom Mason-  Mr. Mason is currently the student advisor for the Construction and Technical Programs at Santa Fe Community College, Gainesville, FL. He also works with the EXCEL Council, coordinating activities with community agencies to help disabled youth make the transition from school to communty employment. Along with The Preserve, Inc., Mr. Mason also participates on community advisory committees targeting educational issues within the Alachua County community and on the School Advisory Committee at Archer Community School. 
*Jane Moraski - Paradigm Properties- Ms. Moraski is the director of planning and development for a mulit-family housing developer and a licensed commercial real estate appraiser. Her past relevant experince includes work for a housing autority in Belleville Nebraska as a Resident Initiatives Coordinator and volunteer Chairperson of Iowa City, Iowa's Community Development Commission, which disseminated funds from the Community Development Block Grant and HOME programs. Mrs. Moraski has aided The Preserve, Inc. in searching for a home and through fundraising. Additionally, she is a new mother splitting her time between raising a daughter, working, and helping the program reduce homelessness. 
*The Preserve, Inc. will be electing and re-electing Board members at the November 20th 2003 Annual Meeting. The following individuals are expected to join our Board bringing with them thier own special talets and experiences leading The Preserve, Inc. to become a stronger organization.

The following individuals have met the requirements as set out in the By-Laws of The Preserve, Inc.
*Beatrice Watkins is a retired speach therapist with 12 years experience working with children and adults in county schools and community colleges. 
*Alison Gerencser teaches mediation at the Univeristy of Florida Colledge of Law. 

The following individuals have assisted The Preserve, Inc. in great ways and have been recomended for special consideration of the Board.
