ewberry, S. C. He died in 1814 leaving twelve sons and a daug
hter. His son, Andrew Shealy, b. 15 Aug 1794 in Newberry, d
. 04 Aug 1856, moved to Macon Co. Ga. in December 1836 and marri
ed a Miss Sawyer. They had six sons and two daughters. Marti
n Luther, the sixth son, joined Co. K, 25th Reg't, Georgia Vo
lunteers as a private, appointed 2nd Corporal , 12 Sept 1861 an
d transferred one year later to Co. B, 22 Battalion, Ga. Heavy A
rtillery and was a 3rd Sergeant at time of Surrender at Greensbo
ro, S. C. , 26 April 1865.
Martha L. Adams was a daughter of Martha (Patsy) Ruskin (10 De
c 1801 - 23 Mar 1870) & Ezekiel H. Adams, (1795 - 1861), m
. 1832. They were charter members of the Marshallville Bapti
st Church, outgrowth of the Greenwood Baptist Church founded i
n 1848. Sally and Ezekiel Adams of S. C. were Ezekiel's parent
s.
Martha's grandfather was John Ruskin, a Lt. in the Revolutionar
y War, serving in Benton's Brigade, S. C. soldiers, and was at L
ong Bluff. Born 10 Oct 1765, Welsh Neck, S. C., d. 25 Feb 184
5 in Macon Co. Ga., m. Rachel Renfroe, 04 Jan 1784, in Cheraw Di
strict, S. C. Rachel, b. 13 Sept 1766, S. C.; d. 12 June 1833 i
n Macon Co. Ga. was d/o Martha Rachel and Enoch Renfroe. They m
voed to Macon Co. in early 1800s and acquired so much land on th
e Flint River he was known as "Flint River Jack". A daughter
, Mary Caroline, married Shadrack P. Felton who founded Montezum
a, Ga. on land owned by him.
