Baldwin is often confused with another Baldwin, Balden, or Baldin who was born in Tennessee. Baldwin was born in 1800. The other Baldwin who apparently went to Alabama had a son John born in 1800. This is evidence that the two were not the same person.
Baldwin died after tending to grapevines. He had cut his thumb and ended up with blood poisoning. It is noted here that he could not read or write. Source David Arthur Mason, Jr. from Ancestry.com.
