the building and on the grounds between classes. Every student has the
responsibility to respect this right.

3. Every student has a right to be safe and secure in the school community.
Every student has a responsibility to respect the security of others.

4. Every student has a right to his / her good name. Every student has the
responsibility to respect the reputation of others.

opportunity for the student to integrate their personal interests with their
school curriculum through a high technology media (video, audio print and
computer graphics) course.

Advisory

One program that distinguishes our middle school from the traditional Junior
High program is the advisory program. This program provides an opportunity for
a teacher / advisor to meet regularly with a group of students in a less
academic setting, in order to provide guidance activities for all middle school
students.

The advisory period is designed to make the transition from the self-contained
elementary classroom to the middle school an easier one. Students at this age
are encountering a great deal of internal turbulence as they adjust to rapid
physical, emotional and social changes as well as to a new school program. The
advisory period can make it easier to cope with these changes by letting
students know that there is an adult who cares about them as individuals, not
just as students. Middle school philosophy encourages a more personal, humane
approach to education and the advisory program assists in the implementation of
this philosophy.

There are four goals accomlplished by our advisory program:
1. To build relationships with students / teachers.
2. To monitor students' academic progress.
3. To build a sense of community.
4. To develop and reenforce success skills.
