Animal rights symposium, Feb. 22-24
January 2002

Vegetarian Events is sponsoring the Compassion For Animals Action Symposium the weekend of Feb. 22-24 at the Sheraton Hotel in Gainesville. The event will bring together animal and vegetarian activists from around the state and newcomers to the issues. Last year's event drew close to 250 attendees. Everyone is invited.

Experts in vegetarian nutrition, animal ethics and environmental issues will come from around the country to help the participants gain a greater understanding of a compassionate lifestyle and the plight of all sentient beings.

The program offers participation in panel discussions, vegan meals, exhibits and networking with like-minded groups and individuals. A few of the nationally known speakers are: Don Barnes (a former animal researcher): George Eisman, vegan nutritionist and author of "The Most Noble Diet"; Ric O'Barry (former dolphin trainer), author of "To Free A Dolphin"; Wayne Pacelle of the Humane Society of the United States; Jim Mason, author of "Animal Factories" and Heidi Prescott of the Fund for Animals (anti-hunting).
