Donations to the Foundation

The generosity of individuals, businesses, and organizaions makes it possible for the Penny Foundation to support the various activities and projects which contribute to the well-being of the community. Endowments which are established and are being built up produce perpetual earnings which enable worthwhile projects to become more self-supporting. In the final analysis, donations to the Penny Foundation contribute toward making the community a better place to live and enjoy.

General methods for making gifts to the Foundation are described here. Special or unique gifts may be discussed with an Officer of the Foundation or your accountant. All gifts should be mailed to The Lafayette Penny Foundation, Inc., P.O. Box 884, Mayo, Florida 32066-0884. If you wish to discuss gift-giving with the President, Hugh M. Smith, call 904-294-2063 or 352-332-3362 or email: hugh.smith@usa.net

1. Memorial and Honor Gifts. With your gift, include the memorial or honoree name; the name and address of the person to receive an acknowledgment; and the donor's name and address. The donor will receive a receipt.

2. Gifts of property. Merchantable property and Real Estate are solicited

3. Endowments. Endowments are solicited for eligible projects. A memorial or honor name may be included for endowments of $5000.00 or more.

4. Bequests in wills of funds and property. Designate the benefactor as The Lafayette Penny Foundation, Inc., P. O. Box 884, Mayo, Florida 32066-0884.

5. Trust Funds. The Foundation will administer trusts where it is the benefactor of at least 50 percent of the trust.

6. Gifts with payback. The Foundation maintains a Pooled Income Fund where various contributions are combined for investment purposes. Gifts may be made to this fund, and the donor and/or spouse receives the earnings, pro-rata to the amount of their gift for the remainder of their life--then the principal reverts to the benefit of the Foundation.
