The Turbografx-16, known as the PC-Engine in Japan, was released in the United States in 1989. Though this system had some excellent games and was the first to offer a CD-ROM add-on device, it never quite caught on here in the U.S. It was, however, immensely popular in Japan for many years.
Three versions of this system were released here in the U.S.: The Turbografx-16, the Turbo Duo (A TG-16 with a built-in CD-ROM drive), and the Turbo Express (handheld version).
