The Wilkins came to Anthony on the first passenger train to run through this section (1880) (now the Seaboard Airline) (then called the F. R. and N.- Florida Railroad and Navigation Co.) Mrs. Wilkins sons, the four Shealys had already come to Florida -- two of them rode on horseback and two came in the stagecoach that ran on the old wire road between Ocala and Gainesville. (Messages were sent down the old wire road' during the Civil War)
