Which leads to a question that the answer still eludes me. If the Glossography was compiled in 998 CY then should the references therein be based upon that date?

Life in Hommlet quickly returned to a semblance of its former self, before the rise of the temple. For five years afterward, the village and the surrounding countryside have beomce richer and more prosperous than ever before . . . . Other adventurers, knowing of the evil that had once resided in the area, came to seek out similar caches. [pg. 5]
In this paragraph is the mention of the troll and how it was killed by some adventurers. After that adventurers continue to come but find nothing. This period of wanderlust encompasses 569 CY to 573 CY.
After a time, adventurers stopped coming to the area . . . . and Hommlet continued its quiet existence for four years more. [pg. 5]
This period of quiet existence encompasses 574 CY to 577 CY.
But then, a year ago, the bandits began to ride the roads again -- not frequently, but to some effect. [pg. 5]
The year of rising banditry is 578 CY and the module itself should take place in 579 CY, ten years after the Battle of Emridy Meadows.

The date for the City of Greyhawk boxed set was determined from the passage concerning the History of the Fellowship of the Torch, where it states, "[t]he group met for the first time in 578 CY, four years ago." The base date of 582 CY is used for all time references in the City of Greyhawk boxed set requiring indirect dating. [City of Greyhawk boxed set; GoF, pg. 3; FFF, pg. 71]
