In the words of our nation's founders...
To preserve our independence we must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt. We must make our election between economy and liberty, or profusion and servitude.
| As the vicissitudes of nations begat a perpetual tendency to the accumulation of debt, there ought to be a perpetual, anxious, and unceasing effort to reduce that which at any time exists, as fast as shall be practicable, consistent with integrity and good faith.
| The consequences arising from the continual accumulation of public debts in other countries ought to admonish us to be careful to prevent their growth in our own.

The Concord Coalition is the citizens' voice against federal budget deficits.
Even though most of the nation's elected officials say they want to eliminate the huge deficits that sap our economy and our future, too often they listen to the voices of special interests when budget issues are being decided. The Concord Coalition stands for the general interest-for an end to budget deficits, for a stonger economy, for global competitiveness, and for a higher standard of living in the future.
To accomplish this, The Concord Coalition will work to create a climate of support and enouragement for elected federal officials who work for deficit reduction.
