Yay weekend!

I'm with caleb this weekend. And were at his nanna and pap's place.
Pretty laid back. Kinda relaxing.

I like visiting my parents with caleb. Its just nice to have people that
you're related to that you actually like to be around. Caleb is really
well behaved and quiet. Even on long trips and outings to walmart
(which seems likre the only place to get anything around here).

I finally fixed the headlight in my car. I still need to change the oil
tho. May do that tomorrow before I leave.

I find it hard to sleep sometimes. This is occurring morre often now,
and I know why. is it strange that I miss hugs as much as I do? Is
there a way to make me forget how nice it is to hold someone?

There are happy people everywhere. Some don't deserve to be. While
others are only happy when they can escape. Me? my happiness is based
on faith. Faith that one day I will trade in this glass globe and
replace it with something more tangable. Something softer. Something
that I could let someone borrow for a while and know that it won't come
back to me shattered in a plastic shopping bag.

My aunt

Its sunday. the sunday after thanksgiving to be more precise. I awoke
at 9am after 5 hours of sleep to the sound of beethoven's 5th. Realizing
that I fell asleep watching clockwork orange I found out the menu screen
has background music.

I turned off the tv and went back to sleep.

11am. Crap. I promised to visit my mom today. I love my mom, but it's
an hour and a half drive. And I can think of nothing better then not
showering, throwing on last nights clothes grabbing some food that I
shouldn't and play warcraft until I doze off in front of the monitor,
then go to bed watching clockwork orange, promising that I'l make it to
the end before falling asleep.

Did I mention that I love my mom?

So I threw on my clothes from last night, grabbed aura, jumped in the
car and headed out to citrus county. I stopped for hardees along the
way.

I arrive to see my mom in the kitchen and what I could guess to be my
aunt on the couch. My mom immediately points us outside where we sit.
She eats some lunch and tells me about her weekend.

Started with my cousin's wedding. She tells me about getting my aunt a
new dress, a haircut and some new shoes. And then tells me hiow crazy
she acted after going manic and not sleeping for 3 days. And then tells
me about how she had to remove my aunt from the reception because of how
she was acting all crazy.

Well my mom finishes eating, and we go inside to find my aunt awake from
her nap. She hugged me, said hello, and then the crazy started.

I'm not going into detail other than she's been medicated for years and
this is the worst I've seen her, in fact the worst I've seen anone in
that state.

And as crazy as the comments and accusations got, my mom and I just sat
therer holding a conversation, turning evey once in a while to answer
something like "what is bigger infinity or a carrot?" or "I created this
everything big big huge infinity so you can torture anyone and you can
be okay if I tell you, okay?".

My mom is taking her in tomorrow.

I know where I get my patience from.

Out of know-where

Clarity is a lifting of a fog or confusion. Life finds a way to let you
know everything will be okay. Time stops for a moment, and you find
yourself feeling again.

The goat

So its wednesday, 9pm local time... and I'm buzzed. I was hanging out

with the geeks, but I guess bed was a better option for them. Me? Well I

find company in my can of pabst.

I managed to finish most of the stuff I was working on for the

conference. Tomorrow I've got more lectures and crap. Not looking

forward to it.

Anyways, I'm gonna get another beer and socialize with these mountain

locals.

Still in keystone. Last night I swallowed a sleep pill, took one look

at the king sized bed in my room, took off the top sheet and slept on

the couch.

I've been sleeping on my couch at home for almost a month now... I think

I may have gotten used to the confinement. It will probably take a week

of restless nights to get used to sleeping in a bed. Right now,

reaching over and feeling nothing makes my mind wander too much to find

my way to sleep.

I'm starting the conference today. Hopefully this will be at least

interesting.

haleakala

Today I got a chance to do a touristy thing... Drive to the top of
haleakala (hah-lee-ah-kah-lah). its the highest point on maui at 10,000
feet. Needless to say I was winded because of the atmosphere. It felt
like I just finished a cigerette.

Those are the pics. I hope you enjoy!

Okay so I've been jetsetting across this great country of ours. And
realizing that I shouldn't leave the city limits of gainesville

Last week I went to chicago. And there was a blizzard. 12 inches of
snow. Got stuck at the airport. Barely managed to get home around
midnight.

Today I wake up in albuquerque, to the news that atlanta is having an
ice storm. For those that don't know, atlanta is the southeast hub for
delta and my only route to gainesville. Which means, I'm one of the many
people about to be screwed.

But bill, the nice guy at the ticket counter in abq managed to find a
path to gainesville that didn't involve atlanta. I for one was both
amazed that one existed and amazed that there would be a chance that I'd
make it back tonight.

My new route sends me through dallas (where I am now) then to memphis,
then finally home.

I got a 10 minute layover in memphis, god I hope were on time.

in Hawai'i

Well I'm still here. After spending the past three days on maui, I'm
now on oahu. Meetings. Work. You know... Not a vacation. That's alright
though, I knew what I was geting into.

But, to be honest, I can't wait to get back to gainesville. I must have
a mental problem. Maybe I've just become accostomed to my life. Maybe
I'm just missing something farmiliar.

I am enjoying the food on maui though. They have these things called
"plate lunch" which consists of two scoops of rice and two types of meat
and gravy. Meat is almost anything... Chicken katsu, sausage, pork,
beef, hamburger, shrimp. This little delacacy was invented from the
sugar cane workers sharing their diffrent ethnic food for lunch.

If you're wondering about what that one picture is... It's spam sushi.
Yes. Spam on rice with a strip of seaweed. God bless the food here
