There's a penguin in my pocket

Howdy folks. It's Tuesday morning, and that means i have a slight headache and the taste of stale beer on my breath, for last night was band night. Mornings like this I cant but to appreciate the goodness of Penguin Mints the little peppermint candy that is sugar free, sodium free, cholesterol free, fat free, and chalked full of CAFFINE!!!! Oh yes! It is god’s most perfect food. I highly suggest picking up a case of your own.

Before I talk about last nights show at The purple porpoise's "blow hole", allow me to stop for a minute and slip into rant/observation mode

BEGIN RANT.TXT

As i have been probably been in Gainesville long before anyone reading this, i have noticed the decline and rebirth of solid music in the Gainesville scene. The death came when we lost the covered dish (to be more precise, death was in the waiting room when the Hardback closed it's doors.) after that black day something happened... the music stopped. at least interest in music stopped. was this because of the bands? the fans? the venues? or was it something else all together? in my opinion, it was the combination of all of these. Fans are fueled by good music at good venues, bands are fueled by fans, venues are fueled by patrons drinking their fill. so where did the breakdown occur? was there an outside factor that broke up the circle of life?

I'll let you all debate that until you're blue in the face... well go ahead... debate dammit! I'll be waiting here when you're done.
Back? good. I've decided not to worry too much about it because we're in an upswing. for now.

Back to the stuff i was originally talking about... the show. I was impressed with Don't Look Down. Great sound and a tight show. Unsung Zeros (their CD release) were good as well. I was surprised to find myself enjoying Suzie 9 iron. Finishing out the lineup was One pump chump and the busdrivers. One pump went on first while busdrivers went on fourth. i guess the like to break up the ska.

I really enjoy one pump chump not that i'm a fan or their bitch or anything, that's reserverd for the Hot Rod Beef Squad. I just like bouncy punk ska. and i want to throw this out as well... the drummer for OPC is highly underrated. big kisses jessie.

Busdrivers aren't as good as they used to be. I thought it was just a little rough around the edges due to the new band members, but last night was rough with a capital UGH! hey, i'll be the first to say that they have talented people, but i could put any 7 talented people in a room and call it a band in the hopes that was true. Last night SOUNDED like 7 talented individuals playing, just not playing together. Unaware of others in the band, only concentrating on doing what they were doing. They need to get past the point of worrying about playing their parts and start worrying about sounding like a single band again. Min and David are the saving graces of the show. Min with his bar-solo and David jumping around like a madman kept me standing even though i wanted to sit. ps: i still love all of you, just not in that way anymore

As all of you beg for it, here is the gaming portion of the blog post... Warcraft III is sweet. I've been playing for the past couple of days, almost done with the night elves missions. I played on line and now i'm 7 and 0. I'm guessing this is a fluke. I cant help but to think this could be my new favorite game (i'm sorry Counter Strike!). I have also been dabbling in Neverwinter Nights and Grand Theft Auto. BTW- Grand theft auto is more fun with someone watching you. More on that later.
