the bomb

well, it finally happened. (not that i didn't see it coming toward me like a mac truck). GeofFocus, the company that i have worked at for almost three years, decided to consolidate the operations in south florida and close the gainesville office. Sienna (my wife) and I have talked about what we would do if this would ever happen. What it came down to was the question: "how big a bag of money would they need to set in front of me before I would be willing to move?". Now, for the benefit of everyone at home I want to try to break this down:

MoveStay
  • A bag full of money

  • My utter loathing of the south florida area
  • 5 hours farther from my Parents
  • 5 hours farther from Sienna's parents
  • 4 hours farther from my son
  • Instability of the company (they're losing about 80% of the software department)
  • Just bought a new house
  • Got a 6.5% mortgage and low down payment
  • Sienna just got a raise
  • Sienna makes MORE than i do
  • We would have to buy a second car

Faced with this situation what would you do?
