Where To Play Pool In And Around
Gainesville Florida
Alley Katz Corner

Gainesville, Florida 32608

Alley Katz is a family fun center with
Bowling, Billiards, and an Arcade. There are 7 coin operated pool
tables here and the waiting list can get rather long on a busy night.
The pool tables here are made by Valley they are covered with maroon felt,
they are approximately 7.5 feet long. Games are .75 cents each and
cue balls are checked out from the front counter with a valid I.D. card.
House cues are substandard here bring your own. Not a first choice
but its usually not that bad in the off hours.
The Dugout Billiards &
Sports Club
3501 SW. 2nd Ave.
Gainesville, Florida
(352)375-1008
A nice place to kick
back and play a few rounds. Approximately 20 tables here and pool
is charged by the hour. Bar in the middle with the tables surrounding.
Tables are 7.5 and 8 feet long. House cues are decent here, and the
atmosphere is very nice. I think the tables here are made by a local table
maker in town and are very nice, the Silver-Q also uses these same tables.
The felt here is standard issue green. I find the rails here a bit too
narrow making it hard to form a good bridge on the rail but other than
that this is a very nice establishment. Rates here are $2.50 per player
per hour.
Eddie C's Billiards
2106 SW. 13th Street
Gainesville, Florida

I have never played here before so I cant tell you
much about it, however it seems like a very unsafe place and I would avoid
it like the plague. Rates here are .50 cents per game and I imagine
the tables here aren't very good.
Happy Hour Billiards
111 S. Main Street
Gainesville, Florida
(352)378-8961
This is gainesvilles oldest pool hall and looks
it however this is a good place to play. Located downtown near the
night clubs this room sees allot of use. There is probably over 30
tables here with two areas one smoking room and also a non smoking room.
Tables are 8 foot from various manufacturers. There is also a snooker
table here and two coin-op tables. The coin-op's are .75 cents a
game, and are the standard 7 foot size. While the tables here aren't
maintained as well as they should they are acceptable. House cues
are average with some really good ones and some really bad ones.
Prices are 5.50 per hour for a table. Open from 6pm to 2am daily.
Panama Joes
5109 NW. 39th Ave.
Gainesville, Florida

This is a more upscale parlor with only about 10
tables. Theses are very nice tables which are 9 footers. The
location is a little out of the main area of town but its worth the drive.
They carry a small selection of cues and supplies for sale. The house
cues here are very high quality and worth playing with if you don't have
your cue. Rates here are 5.50 per hour for the table with much cheaper
rates for the early birds. There are two coin-op's here about 6 1/2
feet (im not kidding) they are .50 cents a game but not worth the time.
The decor here is nice with several billiards posters and autographed pictures.
One of the best places to play in town.
Players Billiards
S. 13th Street
Gainesville, Florida
(352)
Another very nice pool hall, about 16 tables here 8
footers. Well maintained tables here but the house cues leave a little
to be desired. This is an authorized Mcdermott dealer with a small
selection of cues and supplies.
Nice decor along with a very well stocked jukebox make this one of
my favorite places to play. Cost is about 2.50 per player per hour.
18 and up only.
Purple Porpoise Billiards &
Sports Bar
1728 W. University Ave.
Gainesville, Florida
(352)376-1684
A small pool room located in the back of a bar The Purple
Porpoise, about 7 tables here with various makes. 8 1/2 footers mostly
with a few coin op's. House cues here are standard fare nothing to
write home about. Cost is 2.00 per person per hour. 18 and
up.
Reitz Union Game Room
University Of Florida
Reitz Union
Gainesville Florida
University Of Florida's pool room a really awesome
place to play if you don't want to smoke or drink. The college billiards
championship is held here every few years. About 25 Tables and one
snooker table. 9 foot Brunswicks, and nice ones too, the felt is
replaced regularly and these tables let you know just how good you are
playing. Occasional visits from pros (the latest was Nick Varner)
give locals a chance to find out how good their game really is. The
game room is open to the public and the price for non students is 2.75
per person per hour. House cues here are very well maintained and
replaced regularly. Smooth balls that are polished on a regular basis
allow no excuses to be made if you miss. During the school year there
is usually a waiting list for a table but this place is well worth it if
you can wait, several restaurants in the union can help the time pass away.
Open daily till 1am.
Silver-Q Billiards And Sports
Bar
225 W. University Ave.
Gainesville, Florida
(352)371-4644
Another pool hall in the club district with about 12
tables fairly nice tables but the rails here are too narrow also.
House cues are pretty good here and the decor is nice as well. Prices
are 5.00 per hour for a table. There is a league night here on tuesdays
and its open to anyone who wants to play.
