In 1764 the first committee of Correspondence was organized in Boston to facilitate communication of the concerns of early members of the American Revolution about the trampling of their rights by colonial occupation and about the unrestrained economic oppression of the colonies by Large and powerful corporations who valued profits over people. (Sound familiar?)The committees spread to other colonies and became the basis for the first Congress called by
American revolutionaries.

VFP Gainesville has started a letter writing Committee named after these original committees which helped form the infrastructure for the American experiment in democracy.

Each member of our committee pledges to write one letter per month to governement and local papers.
When you write a letter please send a copy of it to Mary Bahr at kmlisle@yahoo.com or to Scott Camil at s.camil@att.net so the Gainesville chapter can keep track of the number of items submitted to local papers. we will do some lobbying if we see many letters submitted but none printed.

Here is some modern assistance that you may use to Speak Out!
