.....the story behind the band

.....We had long been practicing and playing individually in Lakeland, Fl., when the three of us, Jason, Tom, and Lance, realized that we had a common interest in styles of music, particularly rock 'n' roll. In March of 1991, we began to practice toge ther playing cover tunes. As we continued to play together, we realized that we had a unique chemistry and that we should officially form a band. We decided to name the band Ascension, a biblical term for the return of Jesus Christ to h eaven from earth after His resurrection. The next step was to begin writing our own songs and to record an album. With the financial help of a good friend of the band's, we set out to record our first album in the summer of 1991. After only four weeks of writing and one week of recording, we emerged from the studio with our self-titled debut album Ascension . After experiencing tremendous album sales and fan response, we decided to move ahea d with the band in full swing!!

.....During the course of the next twelve months, we began to play at local venues in central Florida on a regular basis. We continued to write songs and in the summer of 1992 decided to head back to the studio to record a follow-up album. With an e normous budget and two weeks in the studio, Rockin' the World was recorded. We once again experienced great album sales and fan response. We continued to play local venues and were featured on a local radio station WCIE.

.....In August of 1992, the band was put on hold due to the fact that Tom moved to Gainesville, Fl. to attend the University of Florida. The band played occasionally for the next two years. In August of 1994, Jason also moved to Gainesville to attend the University of Florida. During the two year hold on the band, we experienced new and different musical styles such as Alternative Rock and R&B/Hip Hop. So in September of 1994, Tom and Jason decided to break up Ascension and start a new band named Stereotype to pursue different musical styles.

.....We began to play at local social functions and developed a strong fan base. We started writing songs for the new band and in July of 1995, the four-song album Paradise Lost was recorded and released.

.....We have continued to write songs and play locally in Gainesville on occasion. And so the saga continues...................
