The Best Dives in the World

The November 1991 issue of Outside Magazine ranked what are considered to be the four best dive sites in the world. In no particular order, they are:

 Lava tubes at Kauai, Hawaii

Bloody Bay Wall at Little Cayman (coral near wall in photo to right)

 The Blue Hole at Belize

Bommies, a.k.a. coral pinnacles, at the Great Barrier Reef, Australia

In 2004, readers of Rodale's Scuba Diving Magazine ranked what they considered to be the best dive sites in the Caribbean/Atlantic:

 Bonaire

 Cozumel

 Grand Cayman

 Bimini, Bahamas

 Little Cayman & Cayman Brac

 Saba

 US Virgin Islands

 Belize atolls

Grand Turk & Salt Cay, Turks & Caicos

 Exumas, Bahamas

Of the dives I have done in the Caribbean (Belize, Bonaire, Cozumel, Little Cayman, and US Virgin Islands), I would make the following assessments between them:

Cozumel has the best visibility, drift diving, and swim-throughs.

Belize has the best big sea life and topside adventures.

Bonaire has the best macro life.

Little Cayman has the best wall dives.
