Big Dismal Sink and Leon Sinks ( 1993)

This unusual section of the Apalachicola National Forest in the Florida Panhandle features more than a dozen dry and wet sinkholes which have formed in longleaf pine flatwoods and hardwood hammocks. We find Big Dismal to be enormous. For those of you who are geologists, this area is well worth the trip. A very interesting area. It is seven miles south of Tallahassee on U.S. Highway 319.
