Why I'm Not Wrong
(Or: Don't listen to what I say, listen to what I mean.)
Auroras are, of course, not huge sheets of electrical energy. They
are in fact, huge sheets of photonic energy, caused by the interaction
of the Earth's atmosphere with our magnetosphere. Or more precisely, the
energy from our sun and the Earth's magnetic field generate some rather
amazing optical effects.
This doesn't change the fact that "huge sheets of electrical energy"
sounds cooler, though.
(Right now, my high-school science teacher is probably banging his head
against a wall.)
