SCHOLARSHIPS TO SPACE CAMP
The With Arms Wide Open Foundation, which works to strengthen the bonds between both parents and their children, is sponsoring nine one-parent, one-child scholarships to the US Space Camp parent-child program in Titusville, Florida, July 20-22, 2001.
The Foundation is particularly interested in reaching non-custodial
fathers who feel disenfranchised from their child, age 7 through
11, and who would otherwise be unable to afford for the pair to
attend the space camp program. Applicants should write a one-page
letter (8.5" x 11") to the Foundation and explain why
they would like to spend more quality time with their child, and
why they would not otherwise be able to afford to attend the camp.
The Foundation will pay for travel costs within the continental
US in addition the tuition fees.

LOOKING FOR HELP WITH FUNDING/Making Connections
I am the Volunteer Services Coordinator with District 3 Department
of Children and Families. I am also the Chairperson of the Newberry
Recreation Advisory Committee. I think you know that we just
purchased 40 acres to develop a recreational facility, but, funding
is always an issue. We are looking for grants and sponsorships.
If you have any information on grant funding, we would appreciate
it if you will share it with us.

of the award honoring your friend, too. Thanks for your efforts
to keep all of us informed about recreation opportunities and
the importance of recreation in the lives of everyone-young, old,
delinquent, conforming, alike. Keep up the important work.
--Gretchen Howard
(OK, so even I need Kudos once in a while! Thanks, Gretchen and
Karen!)
