WINDSOR
I was a little disappointed to see that Windsor was not listed under the grass roots section of your email. We are so little I know that, but we are working diligently to try and get enough people to sign up and play baseball this season in Windsor.

We too, need a grant for lights, how do we accomplish that? I need info bad for this. I have had Henry Drake say he will help me with equipment. I am also looking for two dugout doors I need to have before the season starts. I am meeting with Joanne from Poe Springs Saturday to get some equipment from her.

I sure am short on volunteers for coaches. I am looking for anyone that can help out 2 days a week i.e. one day during the week for practice and Saturday for practice or a game.

Thanks, Juanita - Windsor Recreation Department 373-2812 538-3235

FROM LOFTEN HS:
We are doing an integrated activity involving Math, Science and the new Construction Academy. Classes are building a bat house on campus! Bell South donated the poles. We have a terrible mosquito problem in the summer, and evening classes are a problem. Hopefully, the Bat house will help.

We work with the Hippodrome on Improvisational Teen Theater and are headed to a conference in Orlando soon. We stole the show earlier this year!

We love volunteers and recently added retired physician John Boyle to our list...the kids love him!

GREAT STRIDES WALK
The 2001 Great Strides Walk is May 4th. Registration starts at 8:00 am, the walk starts at 9:00 at Westside Park. Lunch is provided and the fire dept will "cool" everyone off.

The Great Stride's Walk is a charity event to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis research. Cystic Fibrosis is a #1 genetic killer of children and young adults in the United States. Currently, over 30,000 people suffer
from this disease which causes the body to produce abnormally thick, sticky mucous. This mucous clogs the airways to the lungs and causes lung infections. The average life span is 32 years. So, we need help!

The program provides grants to eligible non-profit organizations, and eligible non-profit organizations in consortia with local educational agencies (LEAs), to establish parental information and resource centers.
