ALL OUT WINNERS!

Did you know that half of the trophy's in the open division during the South Florida Fair went to the Snyders?

I thought that this was significant and contacted them to learn their winning formula. The Snyders attribute their success to good starter stock, good health in their flock and separating the birds 3 months prior to each show.

Mrs. Snyder says that the last point is very improtant. Separating the birds allows them to be in their best condition. They are not pecked on or being bred. This separation also allows the Snyders to pick out the best birds for the show.

If you really want to win at poultry shows, here are some tips:

  1. Follow major poultry shows - See what birds are winning the shows.
  2. Select breeds you are interested in raising - Raise the birds that you like.
  3. Contact a good breeder - If you have been following the shows and know which birds are winning, you should find out who owns the birds. Contact this person for eggs or chicks of the desired breeds.
  4. Don't mail order from hatcheries - A lot of time the hatcheries don't give you a really good quality, prize winning bird. Contact someone who breeds exactly what you want.

This is the advice that Mrs. Snyder gave me. She followed this plan and now has prize winning birds. And why not have prize winning birds? says Mrs.Snyder, it costs just as much to raise a prize winning bird as it does to raise any old bird that doesn't win anything.

The Snyders went on to the Tampa State Fair where they won many prizes for their Brahamas.

Dark Brahma -
#1 Cock The cock also won:
#1 Hen Best Variety
#2 Hen Reserve Champian Brahma
#1 Cockerel Reserve Champian Asiatic
#2 Cockerel
#3 Pullet The #1 cockeral also won:
#4 Pullet Reserve Variety

Light Brahma -
#2 Cockerel
#1 Pullet
#2 Pullet

The Snyders are now selling eggs and chicks from their Brahmas. If you are interested, Please contact:
