ANNUAL CHRISTMAS PARTY:
Call Miss Lee if you haven't signed up for a covered dish. Turkey, ham and beverage will be provided by the club. Come join in this time of merriment before we get really busy with the South Florida Fair. Bring your photos and decorated eggs!!!!!

DID YOU KNOW?

The feeding of layer pellets or crumbles is geared toward egg production and not hatchability.

To improve fertility, add riboflavin to the diet. Riboflavin, the most important vitamin affecting fertility, is found naturally in yeast, egg yolk, and grass or greens.

PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST

Our 2nd annual poultry photo contest is officially announced. Photos are to be submitted during our December Christmas party. Miss Arvis has made arrangements with J. Sam Johnson to be our contest judge.

PHOTO CATEGORIES

1. Chicken in natural setting
2. Best dressed chicken
3. Best saying to accompany a poultry photo.
4. Best Color - judged on composition, subject and color.
5. Overall most original.

CONTEST RULES:

1. ALL entries must have the photographers name and category written on the BACK of the photo.
2. ALL photos must be accompanied with the negative.
3. Each entry may be submitted in all areas (duplicated must be made for each category.)
WINNERS WILL BE ANNOUNCED DURING THE SOUTH FLORIDA FAIR.
Cash prizes in all categories: 1st, 2nd, 3rd places.
Get out there and click at those cluckers.


EGG DECORATING CONTEST

December Meeting

Make sure you decorate your eggs for our annual egg decorating contest.
AGE CATEGORIES:
Juniors: 2 - 12 years
Seniors: 12 - 18 years
Adults: 19 - 103 years

Prizes will be awarded by our judges during the Christmas party.

* Dewlap - a pendulous growth of skin under the rear of the beak or bill and on the upper throat.

* Knob - the horny protuberance at the juncture of the head and upper bill in African and Chinese Geese.

Rules & Regulations
(Florida Poultry Only)

1. All entries must be made on entry forms furnished. Entry deadline is December 24 (postmark).

THE DECEMBER 24TH DEADLINE FOR POULTRY REGISTRATION WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED.

2. On Fair registration forms, each bird must be listed individually. Incorrect forms may be disqualified.
3. The Open Poultry Show will include exhibitors 19 years of age and up. The Youth Show will include exhibitors 7 to 18 years of age.
4. All entries must be properly leg-banded and numbers correctly recorded on entry forms before cage assignments are made. (Leg bands will be available at the Fairgrounds on the day of check-in at a small charge).
5. All birds must be owned by the exhibitor for at least 90 days prior to the Fair and each exhibitor must CHECK, BAND, and COOP their own birds. NO DROP OFFS WILL BE ALLOWED!
6. Check in for exhibitors will be from 1:00PM until 7:00PM on THURSDAY, JANUARY 11, 1996. Birds may be removed between 3:00PM and 6:00PM on Sunday January 28,1996.
7. All entries will be entered as singles in the following classes:

CLASS A COCK: Male bird 12 months of age or older.
CLASS B COCKEREL: Male bird under 12 months of age.
CLASS C HEN: Female bird 12 months of age or older.
CLASS D PULLET: Female bird under 12 months of age.
CLASS E EXOTIC FOWL: Turkeys, Peacocks, Pheasants, Guineas, etc., all ages.
CLASS F WATERFOWL: Ducks, Geese, all ages.

8. The Fair will not be responsible for any loss but will give every exhibit careful attention.
9. Show only fancy or best producing birds. The show superintendent may decline any entries he feels should not be shown. Birds will not be accepted unless they are in healthy condition.
10. There will be NO medicating of birds. If illness appears during the course of the Fair, the birds must be removed from the tent.
11. Special exhibits or exhibits requiring special cages should arrange with the show secretary at the time registration forms are due.
12. Each exhibitor may enter up to but not more than 30 birds or 15 cages, whichever is lower with a 30 bird per family/or household maximum youth and open combined.
13. Birds will be judged on the Danish System.
14. Failure to abide by these rules may result in the loss of ribbons and/or premiums.
15. Individuals will not be allowed to show the same bird in Youth and Open Shows.
16. SELLERS OR BUYERS MUST PROVIDE THEIR OWN BOXES OR CAGES. ALL BIRDS REMOVED BY OWNERS/BUYERS MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY A RELEASE FROM THE TENT SUPERINTENDENT.
17. Birds may only be removed from cages with permission of Tent Superintendent.
18. Buyers may remove birds on Sunday, January 28 between 2:00PM and 3:00PM. You must have a receipt from seller.
19. Early removal of exhibits shall result in loss of ribbons, premiums and future showing privileges.

POSTER CONTEST

Theme: Poultry related, can include exotic and water fowl Size: Standard poster or display board size.

Ages: Under 12
12-18
18 and over

1 poster per club Due at poultry check-in

Contest open to exhibitors, poultry club members and 4-hers. Wining posters to be displayed in Poultry Tent. Name, age, address and phone number to be placed on back of poster, upper right hand corner.

FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE & CONSUMER SERVICES POULTRY EXHIBITION RULES

An chickens and turkeys entered for public exhibition shall originate from pullorum-typhoid clean flocks or hatcheries or have necessary pullorum-typhoid test within one year prior to exhibition. All poultry and other domestic birds entered for exhibition purposes must be accompanied by official certificate of veterinary inspection showing that they are free of and have not been exposed to infectious a contagious diseases of poultry. No importation for exhibition will be allowed during any period in which the department found and declared a poultry disease emergency to exist as provided in Section 570.07(21),FS.
All poultry entered for exhibition purposes which are from pullorum-typhoid clean sources must he accompanied by a certificate of purchase from the hatchery.
