Pack 454 Newsletter: November 2006

Hello All-

I am sorry that this newsletter is being sent out so late in the month.  This is due to computer issues that I could not control.

Please remember that our Pack meeting will be held in a new location -
Trinity United Methodist Church, 4000 NW 53rd Ave.

Alachua District has a new website up and running-  http://alachuabsa.com/   the address will soon change to a .org
Also don't forget our Pack website at http://www.afn.org/~pack454/

November Pack Meeting- This meeting will be held Nov. 14 at Trinity in the right hand side of the worship centerPlease note the new meeting place!  Troop 454 will be on hand with some demonstrations and a flag retirement ceremony.  Please bring jackets (weather depending) and flashlights.

At the Pack Meeting we will  be collecting-

Food baskets- Your den leaders should have contacted you about items to fill your dens basket with. Please contact them if you have any questions as to what you should bring.

Recharter-  Your den leaders are handing in the recharter for the upcoming year. Please give your annual dues to your den leader.  Wolf-Webelos 2 are $47 and Webelos 2 are $28.  Checks can be made payable to Pack 454. New scouts that joined in September do not pay recharter dues. Scouts that do not pay dues will be left off of this years charter.

We will be handing out a few things this month as well-

Christmas Stockings-  Our December service project, each scout is asked to fill a stocking with school supplies for an area child in need.  Many items can be purchased at the dollar store or other outlets.

Pack Phonebooks-  Your scout will receive a copy of this years directory. The directory also has a copy of this years calendar and scout shop info.  A good resource for information.

District Award Nomination Forms-  You will receive a form that you can fill out to nominate a pack or den leader, or committee member for this years service. The form this  year is a little different then previous years. When nominating a leader please include then nominee's name, position and our Pack Number (Pack 454). Also, most importantly include a brief statement of why your nominee deserves this recognition. Forms will be handed out at the November pack meeting.  You can either fill out the form and turn it in by the December Pack meeting, or send nominations to RichWatkins@cox.net . We have wonderful leaders and we would like for them to be recognized. Please send in your nominations!

BUC TUOCS Campout Sign up-  All Scout Families wanting to attend BUC TUOCS Campout February 2-4, need to pre-register. This must be complete by the December Pack Meeting (December 12). Sign up sheets will be given to all den leaders. The cost is $5 per person (for the weekend), with the exception of children age 5 and under, who attend free of chargeThe pack will pay for the fees for each scout as long as an adult is signed up to camp with them. Camp BUC TUOCS is held at Camp Shands in Melrose, and is a lot of fun for the scout and his family. There are planned activities all day Saturday that each group does on a rotating basis. Such activities include cooking, crafts, fishing, archery, BB shooting and more.
