MFOA Board Meeting

Call to Order - 5:05 PM by A. Summers

 

Previous minutes - read and accepted.  Motion by R. Sullivan, second by T.Bedford

 

Treasurer's Report - all schools paid, exceptone.  Has been sent anotherinvoice.  Problem with official andinsufficient funds, have not heard as of today's date.  Move payment schedule in 2010 toJanuary 10th, alternates every two weeks.

 

Other Reports - Dunnellon game Nov. 18th,not enough payment.  Another billhas been sent.  W. Clayton and J.Pole will contact school before Christmas break to check on payment.  Last Friday, M. Coppock had too muchmoney and gave $77 back to Lafayette. Turned in written notice. Funds were figured wrong and MFOA still owes $13.00 to school.

Motion to get extra money from officialsinvolved, R. Sullivan with second by R. Leahy.

 

 

Old Business -

 

       BasketballAll Day Clinic - Overall, went very well. Enough food, team very appreciative, scrimmage with veterans paired withrookies worked out well.  Coachescomments were excellent and relevant.

 

       SuspendedOfficials - Appeals - Rick Hooper is appealing in regards to fine for showingup late to a game.  He misread theschedule and went to the wrong school. Recommend to pay.  Motion topay by L. Mayhew, second by T. Bedford. Motion passed.

Jeff Wade left site due to disagreement with Rin regards to officials assignment. It was J. Wade's understanding that he was to be the U.

Motion to carry out fine of $10 with nosuspension by W. Clayton, second by R. Sullivan.  Motion passed. Dell Matchett appealed board in regards to payment of playoff crew forFHS game on 1/13.  Motion to let J.Pole handle the correction in payment D. Jones, second by W. Clayton.

FHSAA suspended officials, as of 12/13, W.Clayton will contact C. Hardee to get deadline date in regards to booking theseofficials.

      

 

New Business -

 

D.B. - has stepped down due to medical reasons,awaiting further       testing.

 

Baseball - kick off meeting today with 35 FHSAA registered   officials.

 

Softball - kick off meeting 12/6 with 27registered FHSAA registered         officials.

 

Board dinner - will discuss at the Januarymeeting.

      

 

Other - A few coaches have asked about meeting with our association in a roundtable format.  Ideas and logisticswere explored, perhaps a form letter sent out to county ADs.  Send letter to Supt. of each countyasking to offer

Contact district coordinator in regards toattend their respective basketball, baseball, and softball.  If they request our attendance, wewould send a representative. Letter will be drafted by A. Summers and sent to W. Clayton for email todistrict coordinators.

 

Bob Leahy read letter in regards tocommunications with the FB relative rating in regards playoff crews.  Copy on file.  Asking for resignation of Terry Lee as the chairman theplay-off recommendation committee. Discussion was held.  Motionby M. Coppock to have A. Summers call T. Lee and R. Leahy to meet together andresolve personal issues that have resulted from the FB relative ratingmeeting.  Email will be sent toboth officials by the association president.  Second, W. Clayton. 1 opposed, motion passed.

 

Discussion was held on BB relative rating.  Committee needs to meet on Sunday,January 3, 2010.  LocationEmergency Operations Center in Ocala. Motion by T. Bedford, second by W. Clayton.

 

Discussion was held in regards to consulting anattorney for legal issues.  Boardwill think about it for future reference.

 

Officials attend games and make inappropriatecomments in regards to game on court. Written email will be sent to all officials in regards to staying out ofthe crew and their business.
