In November, 1982, a
group of concerned Melrose business owners came together to
establish a new community service organization. The Melrose
Business Association, Inc. received its charter from the state
in 1983. The purpose of the new association was to "work for the
betterment of Melrose". Over the years they have done exactly that.
Melrose is an excellent place to live and raise
a family.
In 1995, the MBA, having
opened its rolls to the entire citizenry, decided to take on a new
name to reflect this change. Thus, the Melrose Business and Community Association was born.
The Melrose Business and Community Association
meets at Noon on the second Wednesday of the month in the
Fellowship Hall of the Melrose United Methodist Church located
at Centre and Pearl Streets. | The
Melrose Business and Community Association invites your participation. We are a
small but committed group, but we want to become a BIG group. By increasing our
membership, we can be more effective. We invite everyone in the Melrose
area to join and work with us in building a stronger community now and for
the future. We currently have some 50 members, with a usual attendance of 20 -
30 at our monthly luncheon meetings. Annual dues of only $40 are due in
January. $5 monthly dues to cover the cost of your lunch may be paid
monthly, quarterly, or in January when the annual dues are paid.
- MBCA presents speakers and programs
addressing issues of community interest.
- MBCA meetings provide a forum for community affairs.
- MBCA is the nearest thing to a Chamber
of Commerce or Visitors Bureau as this small, unincorporated
community may ever have.
Melrose is a community,
a state of mind and a way of life, but mostly it is special
people...
