Editorial . . .

Whether you want to believe it or not, this month marks the mid-point on the active MBCA calendar year when you consider we have business meeting, January through October.

A brief review of MBCA activities thus far - the finalization of the “Four Corners Cops Without Borders” agreement between the Alachua, Bradford, Clay, and Putnam Sheriff's Departments, an evening MBCA meeting, and our first 2008 Business After Hours event at Greathouse Butterfly Farm are the high points, as I recall them.

So, it's time to start thinking about what we're going to do for the rest of 2008 and make plans for 2009.

Also, remember, it's Election Year and we all need to be sure we're properly registered to express our thoughts on who should lead us into the future. On the National Scene, we've never had a more diverse group from which to choose.

What a tradgey Melrose has recently experienced! Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of those involved.

Recent Happenings . . .

On April 25th, a large group of MBCA members and guests enjoyed a great Business After Hours hosted by Zane & Maggie Greathouse at their Butterfly Farm in suburban Earleton. Thank you Zane & Maggie!

This past Sunday, May 4th, the Melrose Bay Gallery held the opening reception for a new show sponsoring works by members of the Gainesville Fine Arts Association. Have some interesting works. The show continues though the month. For more information visit their web-site: http://www.mbagallery.smugmug.com/.

Future Happenings . . .

Always check the Community Calendar here in the newsletter and on-line at: http://melrosefl.com/calendar.html.

There are no major events on the horizon beyond what's already listed on the Community Calendar.

Perhaps, we should stir something up?.
