Henry is placed on the Madison County, Kentucky tax rolls for the first time on 11 August 1803. Clay County is formed in 1807 and Henry is included as a resident of Clay County. On 15 March 1808, Henry and his brother Thomas together, purchase 525 acres of land from John White and John Crook of Madison County for 50 pounds in hand. The land is situated on the Red Bird Fork of the Kentucky River. This is the earliest deed recorded for Henry and Thomas in Clay County. It is possible they already owned some land because the survey was to begin at a red oak, beech and hickory tree below Henry's plantation on the east side of the Red Bird Fork of the Kentucky River
The 1810 US Census lists Henry as having in his household, 1 male between the age of 10 and 16 (born 1794 to 1800, which is too old to be one of Henry's sons) and 2 males under the age of 10 ( the youngest being Henry's son William, born 1806).
What is believed to be Henry's last home, was probably constructed
between 1830 and 1850. It is situated behind the US Post Office on
Sextons Creek and is known as the Old Joe Clark house. It was built of logs, in two seperate two story cabins, connected by a dog trot. The house was later covered with weather board, enclosed under one roof and a front porch. A small one story room was also attached as an extention from the rear of the house.
The 1850 US Census lists Henry as age 71, born in North Carolina and Jane as age 74, also born in North Carolina. On 20 December 1814, John Fry, who was a private in the Kentucky Militia during the War of 1812, gave Henry his power of attorney for Henry to collect all money owed him for his service. Henry was an elder in the Primitive Baptist Church and as such founded several churches in the local area, including the Rock Spring Church at Greenhall, founded in 1843. He obtained a license to perform marriages on 4 August 1823 and
Robert Baker and William Hudson were on his bond.
