This man was married to Barbara Vaught. I would like to believe that his name was John Howard but I have no written evidence of this fact. I estimate that Barbara's husband would have been born close to the beginning of the Revolution.
I have found that the John Howard who was the son of Nehemiah would have been too old to have been the husband of Barbara. The American Revolution was fought 17751783.
The son of Nehemiah did not fight in the revolution but aided the Rebellion by provided goods for the soldiers. Apparently, John Howard was attacked by some Tories either in NC or SC and made him crippled in one leg. I doubt if he was a major in the Revolution. There was a Major John Howard from New Jersey who fought in SC with the Continental army.
The fact that he aided the Revolution would have made his descendents eligible to belong to the DAR. He ended up in Milledgeville, GA as a blacksmith. I have found many places on the internet that writes he married Jane Vivian.
