Straight, no frills painting with light
(the
Impressionist's dream).
This piece goes back to Ringling School
of Art & Design where, as a potential
honor
student, I was discreetly "invited
to
leave" for attempting to do 'fine
art'
on a computer
(I guess in those days something akin
to
consorting with devils).
It is often a fine line between innovation
and vocational suicide.
At the time I was much impressed with
the
idea of the 'cloister,' each of us
(students)
burning up hours upon hours on our
little illuminated manuscripts, the
"function
keys" of the keyboard like the
F-stops
of
an organ, the rose windows of pure
creation.
The "moth" has often emerged as
a
personal totem.
