A contemporary acronym (cgi) for a contemporary art form; it was nonetheless the dream of the Impressionists (Monet, et al) to be able to "paint with light", which, other than photographic (chemical) processes, the advent of the digital microprocessor and CRT /cathode ray tube (essentially a glorified light bulb) has now made utterly commonplace.
