Lith was the one who introduced me to pete. What got me hooked was the video of him onstage, performing Willow Farm with a flower mask. After that, Lith gave me copies of Foxtrot, Nursery Cryme, and Selling England by the Pound. I rapidly became obsessed with Pete-era Genesis. I would walk around all the time singing 'Harold the Barrel' and 'Dancing with the Moonlit Knight.' In any case, just as the worst of the Genesis obsession was dying off, she drove over to my house and presented me with a copy of Melt and Security- from the first eerie strains of 'Intruder', it was magic. I called her after I'd listened to the whole thing, and I believe my most coherent comment was "wooooooww....." Then she gave me a copy of SO and US. US provided what I have finally decided is my favorite song of his: Washing of the Water. SO took a bit longer to get used to. Anyways, since then, I've listened to everything I and Lith could get me hands on. I love his voice, I think he's cute, and he's a cool human being too. What can you ask more from a musician? I think the only thing he did that bothered me was 'Don't Give Up'. I HATE that song! :) So why do I love Pete? Because he's older than my Da, yet he manages to look like a lost little boy at times. Because his voice is terrible, but he cares enought about what he is singing to make me cry. Because he knows how to laugh, too. Because when I was alone his music was there. And because he probably likes toast. Um, at least I hope so...
