Besides absentee, also known as voting by mail, the ability to vote early is both convenient and will speed the voting process for those who DO choose to vote November 4th. Here is the local information, taken from the Alachua County Supervisor of Elections site:

Early Voting for the November 4th, 2008 General Election will start October 20th, and run through November 1st.

Any registered voter may vote early. Florida Law requires that you present picture and signature identification in order to vote, or vote a provisional ballot.

Early Voting Hours

Weekdays
Monday, October 20th through Friday, October 24th - (9 AM to 5 PM)
Monday, October 27th through Friday, October 31st - (9 AM to 5 PM)

Saturdays
October 25th - (9 AM to 1 PM)
November 1st - (9 AM to 5 PM)

Sundays
October 26th - (1 PM to 5 PM)
