The weekend of March 17 will see a mass gathering in Washington DC for a march on the Pentagon. People from across the country are converging there. Florida will see folks travelling by plane, train, bus and carpool. Carpooling locally is being set up through Faith Carr at 335-0771. There is no local bus.

There will also be a Veterans for Peace-inspired demonstration in Fayetteville, NC at Ft. Bragg. Cities around Florida with demonstrations planned include Tampa, Sarasota, Tallahassee and Melbourne. For a rundown see www.afn.org/~vetpeace/events.htm

Locally, the UF chapter of Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) is organizing a student walkout and march against the war from the Reitz Union to Tigert Hall at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 20--the anniversary of "shock and awe" 4 years ago.

On Thursday, March 22 a Vets for Peace caravan will be spending the night in Waldo and folks are invited to a bonfire and potluck at 6 p.m. Call 466-2101 for directions. They're travelling from Ft. Bragg to Southern Mississippi, including a stop in Ft. Benning, GA.
