Critical resistance meeting May 24
May 2003

Critical Resistance Florida is a Florida-wide organizing effort to bring together prisoners, former prisoners, families, community organizers, activists, young people, students, people of faith, immigrant communities and all people concerned about and/or affected by the prison system and the prison industrial complex in Florida. CRFlorida is a newly forming chapter of Critical Resistance, a national grassroots group that fights to end the prison industrial complex by challenging the belief that policing, surveillance, and imprisonment make our communities safer. CRFlorida originated at the Critical Resistance South conference in April in New Orleans, when the Florida caucus agreed to start a Florida chapter of Critical Resistance (CR).

CRFlorida will hold its first organizing meeting on May 24 at the United Church of Gainesville, 1624 NW 5th Ave., 1-8pm. All Floridians who are interested in stopping the growth of Florida's prison system are invited.

Refreshments and dinner will be provided. A breakfast reception will be held the following morning from 9 to noon, at the Civic Media Center, 1021 W. University Ave.

The meeting is free. To register or for more information email fils@bellsouth.net or call 352-375- 2494 with your name, address, phone, and email. For more information about Critical Resistance, go to www.criticalresistance.org.
