Demonstration at the NRA convention in Orlando, April 26
April 2003

According to the Centers for Disease Control, American children are more at risk from firearms than the children of any other industrialized nation. In one year, guns killed 0 children in Japan, 19 in Great Britain, 57 in Germany, 109 in France, 153 in Canada, and 5,285 in the United States.

However, right-wing organizations like the National Rifle Association actively block attempts at gun violence prevention. The NRA opposes trigger locks, firearm registration and licensing, waiting periods, and the federal ban on assault weapons (due to expire in 2004).
