Have you checked out the Civic Media Center lately?
May/June 2001

Recently we've built wall-to-wall bookshelves and our collection has grown incredibly! Our video and audio collection, magazines, newspaper and periodicals collections, and our 'zine library continue to grow.

Where else do you find such a fine collection of independent, alternative, underground, progressive information on politics, culture, and society? Not at the public library and not the UF library. Where do you find such independent news? Not the Gainesville Sun, nor the Florida Alligator. Not the New York Times nor CNN. Not even National Public Radio!

We're a non-profit, community-based, volunteer-run, non-corporate reading room and library! Come check us out if you haven't already, and if you have, check us out again. Were always receiving new materials. We also have political events and music shows. And we host Gainesville's longest-running Poetry Jam!

Our summer hours are 2-7:30pm Tuesday through Saturday and 2-6pm on Sundays. If you'd like to volunteer come by our weekly volunteer meetings at 12:00 on Sunday. If you'd like to donate books, video or audio tapes, magazines or newspapers please get in touch with us. Were always looking to expand our collection. Or if you want to make a financial donation, write checks to the Civic Media Center and send them to the address listed below. Check out our webpage for our most updated list of events!

Yearly memberships allow you to check out books, video tapes, and audio tapes. Memberships are a $10-50 donation.

Hope to see you soon! Civic Media Center,
