This just in--the City Commission has asked their staff to submit changes to the fliering ordinance that would once again make fliering illegal all over Gainesville. After a fierce battle in 1997, we finally won the right to legally flier concrete poles in the University "context area" i.e. near University & 13th Street. Three people who were arrested for fliering had to go to court in protest and organizers held a march and speakout to win this advance. Why are they trying to reverse this in the middle of summer? Call your City Commissioners (334-5016) and ask what's going on and when this proposed change will be considered.
