"Just Health Care" on the radio Feb. 19

Free Radio Gainesville (94.7 FM), Health Care for All, and the Alachua County Labor Party will team up on Saturday, February 19th to present "Just Health Care Radio", a full day of programming and a live on-air call in focused on the health care crisis in the U.S. and the organizing push for national health care. Broadcasting on Free Radio Gainesville will begin at 10 a.m. with the two-hour "Just Health Care: the Labor Party Prescription for a Healthy America", a national radio program which kicked off the Labor Party's Just Health Care campaign ("Just Health Care: The Labor Party Prescription for a Healthy America" will be rebroadcast from 2-4 p.m.). This organizing campaign centers on the need for a universal, 'single-payer' health care system that would cover everyone for all of our health care needs. Additional segments of Just Health Care Radio will feature excerpts from Just Health Care rallies and events, interviews with Labor Party organizers and national health care activists, and a live on-air listener call in.

The Labor Party's Just Health Care campaign would allow America to join all other industrialized countries in guaranteeing total health care coverage for its people. "Just Health Care: The Labor Party Prescription for a Healthy America" originally aired nationally in June 1999 and featured such panelists as Kit Costello (President, California Nurses Association), Drs. Steffi Woolhandler, David Himmelstein, and Claudia Feagan (Physicians for a National Health Program), Dr. Quentin Young (Past President, Public Health Association), and Tony Mazzocchi (Labor Party National Organizer).

Free Radio Gainesville can be heard in a 2 to 3 mile radius from the University of Florida campus on 94.7 FM. The show's sponsors are going door-to-door talking to people about national health care as part of the Just Health Care campaign.
