Demonstrators will gather at the Army School of Americas at Ft. Benning in Columbus, Georgia on the weekend of November 20-22. Last time 601 people were arrested committing civil disobedience and they're planning to top that figure this time. Motels in the area are full, but camping or motels in outlying areas are still an option. Columbus is about 6 hours from Gainesville. For local info call Veterans for Peace at 495-9289.


Farmworkers, students, and farmworker advocates will hold a national meeting, "Sowing Seeds of Change" on the weekend of Nov 6-8 at UF in Gainesville. Sponsored by the Student Action for Farmworkers and the Anthropology Department at UF, this national meeting will address different farmworker struggles around the Southeast and build coalitions to work for social and economic change. Join the Florida Coalition for Peace and Justice for a Food Irradiation demonstration and Teach-in, Halloween Day, October 31st at Food Technology Services, Inc. (f/k/a Vindicator) food irradtion plant, 502 Prairie Mine Road, Mulberry, Florida from 3:30 - 6:30 pm.
