Time Does Not Heal

Glance of ice from one so sweet.
Ears that listen not to pain.
Praise for one who claimed your feat
Care that's shown and lost in vain.

Stab of memory's sharp knife.
Souls that won't relearn to feel.
Dearth of friends in times of strife.
These are wounds time does not heal.

Open sores when rubbed with salt.
Lonely journey through the marsh.
Moving on when called to halt.
Lover's words in anger harsh.

Innocence lost in a flash.
Claws that friendly hands conceal.
Bodies broken from a crash.
These are wounds time does not heal.

Finding fault in all that's good.
Christmas with no holiday.
Burning clothes for lack of wood.
Turkey with no way to pay.

Family gone, no husband, wife.
Fear of World War unreal.
Loss of love. Loss of life.
These are wounds time does not heal.
