On the original software design team for the Accelerator product line. Helped to develop data models and architectures for always-on technologies to parallel the current PPP/dialup paradigm in use by ISPs. Also helped to develop network architecture models and implementation plans Dynamic Service Selection (DSS), which is a key requirement in the ADSL Forum RFP.
Further work in the DSS area included the creation of a custom forwarding module to be implemented in the CPE. This module was written to integrate with the vxWorks SENS library, and provides a custom set of forwarding rules based on DSS connections. The forwarder module also includes a custom ARP handler for enhanced security and spoof prevention.
Moved to Protocols group, which provides data support for layer 2 and above. Group projects include NAT and NAPT support, which required modifications to the forwarder module and the vxWorks IP stack.
Driver development and enhancement for serial and Ethernet communications. Processors include Motorola 68360, MPC860SAR. Continuing work on performance enhancements at the driver and system level, with some emphasis on layer 2 switching. More continuing work on enhancements to vxWorks IP stack.
Responsible for design, deployment, and maintenance of first phase internal LAN and Internet connection. This included general Windows NT server maintenance and some desktop support. It also included daily maintenance and minor system administration of internal and external info servers, which provide primary DNS, SMTP, POP3, HTTPD (Apache), FTPD (WU), SSH, RADIUS, and NNTP (INND) services on a Solaris 2.5.1 platform. Performed troubleshooting of issues concerning client access to info servers. Assisted in installation and provisioning of analog dialup services for remote access. Administered PBX. Coordinated and performed move of external connectivity and info servers to new site with minimal downtime.
Assisted in design of second phase internal LAN, including making recommendations for IP address allocation issues and improved remote access. Continued support and troubleshooting of of services provided by info servers.
Participated at Networld+Interop as a NOC team member, providing Accelerated Networks with increased visibility as a contributor in addition to the Best of Show winner. Also gained hands-on experience with other vendors' carrier-class equipment.
