Artificial Reefs in Florida's Big Bend

1995 Saltwater License Reefs

County artificial reef locations released to the public in September 1995.

Reef construction was funded by Florida saltwater fishing license revenues. Each reef is part of a matched pair -- the second member each pair has not been made public. Each reef is constructed of six separate piles of concrete cubes forming a hexagon. Each pile consists of either 4 or 16 cubes. Each cube is approximately 3 feet on a side and contains 1 large (55 gallon drum sized) hole and 4 smaller holes.
