Singing in the Gainesville Civic Chorus is an opportunity to refine your
vocal technique and experience the joy of singing great choral works in
a large chorus. The Chorus is continually seeking qualified singers for
the soprano, alto, tenor and bass voice parts. All Chorus members are
members of the Master Chorale.
The rehearsals of the Master Chorale are Monday evenings from 7:30 to 9:30 PM.
Dress rehearsals and occasional extra rehearsals are scheduled for the week prior
to the performance at the conductor's discretion. There are annual dues (currently $100)
and music is usually included. Some music will be on loan. However, it is our policy not to exclude anyone
who is otherwise qualified to join because of membership costs. There is also a concert
dress requirement. Details will be provided at the time of audition.
Membership in the Master Chorale is by audition only. Come prepared to sing a piece of music you know and with which you are comfortable. Please bring two copies of the music, one for you and one for the accompanist. The piece can be as simple as a hymn or a folk song or as accomplished as an aria. You will also be requested to perform some basic sight singing and possibly some scales. Our conductor needs to have an opportunity to hear your voice quality and assess your musical ability. These skills must be adequate for you to keep up with the group at rehearsals because our rehearsal schedule for any concert is generally quite short and very concentrated.
The next auditions will be held August 21, 2011 starting at 5 pm in Dr. Kesling's office - room 128 in the Music Building on the University of Florida campus. Each audition will last about 10 minutes. Please schedule an audition time by contacting:

Please complete the audition form and bring it with you to the audition.
Come and join us for a great experience in choral music.
