Fall and Winter
.
September
Start disbudding as soon as the flower buds are easily discernable from the growth buds. Carefully pinch off all but one flower bud on each stem to help get bigger and better blooms. For earlier blooms, continue using gib.
October
Complete disbudding to encourage larger blooms and healthier plants. Continue to apply gib to get earlier blooms through out the blooming season. Fall spraying for scale can be done at this time. Since hot weather has been replaced by milder weather, an oil emersion spray may be used.
November-December
Continue gibbing for the later shows, complete any disbudding that remains to be done, repeat sprayng as necessary and most important BRING BLOOMS TO SHOWS.
January
Enjoy your blooms, share with your neighbors and bring to shows. Do minor pruning while cutting flowers.
February
Begin spraying for scale, the grafting period begins in February also.

Spring and Summer
.
March
Spray for scale and other pests. Cleanup old blooms, dead limbs and dead blooms. Fertilize and/or prune those plants in need.
April
Complete pruning and spraying. Finish cleaning up old blooms and replace the mulch around plants.
May
Remember to water if there is no rain for seven days of one inch. Spray with fungicides to control fungus.
June
Replace mulch as needed. Selectively prune unwanted or diseased limbs. Water if necessary.
July
Water as needed, one inch per week. Give a light summer fertilizer as needed.
August
Start disbudding as soon as flower buds are discernible, water as necessary.
