Hey ya'll,

Howard here. I am starting an email news list for news, happenings and program listings for Free Radio Gainesville.

If you would NOT like to get these messages, please email me and let me know. But, now that 97-X may go over to some terrible music format, we may not have any decent options in Gainesville for good radio except for 94.7 FM.

Just a reminder that we broadcast two nights a week:

Sundays, 4-10pm Wednesday, 6-11pm

(check the new February Iguana for show details)

94.7 FM

We recently upped our power to 40 watts and we are getting listener reports from all areas of the city, so chances are you'll be able to tune us in. [UPDATE (2/10/98): OUR NEW 40-WATT AMP IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. WE HAVE RE-INSTALLED THE 7-WATT AMP, SO OUR SIGNAL RANGE IS BACK TO WHAT IT WAS BEFORE. I'LL LET YOU KNOW WHAEN THE 40-WATT AMP GETS BACK IN BUSINESS] If you get a crackly signal or no signal, e-mail me - I'd like to hear how we are sounding. It's important to hear listener reports when we are making adjustments to our equipment.

Also, if you hear us interferring with other stations, let us know. We ABSOLUTELY DON'T want to interfere with other stations and our equipment is set up to NOT do this but occasionally these things happen. So, please, help keep the heat off of us by letting us know.

94.7 FM

We are also in the process of lining up a third day of programming. If you or anyone else you know can make the committment to doing a program on Free Radio Gainesville and make it original and can do it every week, please have them contact me. I have a packet of information about us that we give to prospective programmers.

[UPDATE (2/10/98): WE ARE IN THE PROCESS OF ADDING A PROMISING NEW SHOW ON SUNDAY NIGHTS FEATURING HIP-HOP BY LOCAL SPINSTERS INCLUDING DJ BLAQ WHO SPINS FOR FULL CIRCLE AND SIMON'S. CATCH HIM THIS THURSDAY AT COMMON GROUNDS STARTING AT 10PM FOR "SMOOTH MOVES AND MELLOW GROOVES"]

94.7 FM

As always, we are in need of professional audio equipment. We are in DIRE need of a mixer with at least 6-8 channels. We are still using a borrowed mixer which must be returned soon.

Again, let me know if you know anyone that can donate mixer's, microphones, mic stands, turntable, tape decks, CD players, headphones and other miscellaneous audio equipment.

94.7 FM

I have announcements for my show coming up in the next few weeks and I'm trying to send this email out at least once a week. Help us spread the word and please provide us with some feedback and let us know if there is a show you'd like to hear that we already don't have.

Thanks for listening!
